Embassy
Legalization
What is an Embassy Legalization?
The countries which have not signed The Hague Convention, follow a more complex “chain of authentication,” which involves specific requirements defined by each country’s Embassy and by the type of document being legalized. Simply put, the embassy legalization of documents serves as proof that the document containing signatures, stamps and documents are genuine or legit.
Examples of documents requiring legalization include:
- Standard documents such as birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates, copies of passport, certificate of no impediment for marriage overseas, and more.
- Academic documents such as Degrees, Masters, Diplomas, TEFL diplomas, and more.
- Corporate documents such as incorporation certificates, company letters, and more.
Certificates produced by governmental departments such as birth, marriage or death certificates, decree absolutes, wills, etc. cannot be legalized if they have been laminated. In this case, we would need have a new copy reproduced so the work is carried out on that one instead.
In the case of educational documents, certified copies will be produced, and the work will be done on those copies, so your original document remains clean. As such, lamination will not prevent us from legalizing your document(s).
Most of these documents are issued within 6 to 8 working days, not including the courier delivery time. Unexpected delays may occur that will be out of our control such as holidays, backlogs, courier delays, customs inspections, etc.
Our service will ensure your documents are checked and certified correctly by one of our solicitors. Our prices include DHL courier delivery to your mailing address.
How to process an Embassy Legalization
- We verify all documents before submission to avoid wasted time and unnecessary expenses.
- Provide a high-quality scanned copy of your passport.
- Send all of the documents to be legalized (may be originals or copies depending on the client preferences or country’s requirements.)
- Download and email Legalization Application Form.
- When the country requires the originals, all documents should be neatly included inside an A4 sized envelope. In this case, the courier fee is not covered in the price.
